A state on the southwestern coast of India within the region known as the Konkan, and geographically disconnected from the Deccan highlands by the Western Ghats, Goa is a former Portuguese colony with a rich history and is known as the ‘Pearl of the Orient’.
Goa's seven major rivers are the Terekhol, Chapora, Galgibag, Zuari, Mandovi, Kumbarjua canal, Talpona, and the Sal, are the main attractions and the cuisine is just not comparable. Goan beaches are, nevertheless, only a part of the lure - the magnificent scenic beauty and the architectural grandeur of its churches, temples, and old houses have also made it a firm favorite with travelers. The climate varies and remains mostly sunny, thus winter is the best time to visit Goa.
